Sheer design

Alice Ma is a Chinese American industrial design student currently based in Chicago, Illinois. She is a passion-driven creator with a degree in Industrial Design from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and is planning on furthering her education in Mechanical Engineering.

Designer’s Statement

There are those who dream, and those who dream then realize – I am the latter of the two. I am not interested in baselessly hypothesized materials and incomplete schematics; I am interested in the tangible and feasible solutions of tomorrow, done elegantly. You could say I’m very much an engineer, but most engineers do not approach human problems the way I do. Pure numbers and equations are insufficient when it comes to uncovering and understanding qualitative user experiences. My goal is to create elegant, functional objects that inspire desire.

Good objects draw you in through formal beauty or functional sincerity. Great objects do both.
